Carter Carburetor Fix
The Jeep 258 (4.2L) I6 isn't a power house, but it has gobs of low RPM torque that makes it a great engine off-road. The most common problem I see with the engine is it's inability to idle. Between the 258 in my '81 CJ-7 and a couple friends that have 258 equipped Wranglers, I have fixed this problem half a dozen times and the cause of the problem has always been the same. The problem has always been caused by clogged idle tubes that cause fuel to drip out of the venturis and make the Jeep run rich at idle. Fixing the problem is relatively easy and once you get past this problem, you will get much more enjoyment from the 258 and the Carter BBD carburetor. Domain: http://www.jeeptech.com Rating: (0/5)

Carter YF Carburetor Tips
The Carter YF carburetor first appeared in 1950, and enjoyed one of the longest runs (if not the longest) of any carburetor designed for original equipment use. The YF design was versatile enough to be calibrated for smog emission, and was used by some original equipment vehicle manufacturers through the 1986 model year. The YF was, and is, an excellent carburetor, if calibrated to the manufacturer's specifications. Includes Modifications, maintenance and troubleshooting tips. Changing Your Sparkplugs
Every 30,000 miles I replace the sparkplugs in my engines whether they look like they need it or not. Sparkplugs are one inexpensive way to make sure that you are getting clean combustion in your engine and that your ignition system is working to it's full potential. Cherokee 2.8L to 3.4L Engine Swap
The Chevy 2.8L is notorious for it's lack of power and low torque. I have a 1984 Cherokee that suffered from this weak powerplant. After reading about the recently announced upgrade for this engine on the Internet, I began some investigations. The Chevy 3.4L 60° V6 originally comes from the 1993 Camaro and it is externally bolt-for-bolt the same as the 2.8L. That makes engine swapping a simple matter. CJ-3B Engine Conversion Manual
A guide for installing the Jeep 225 CID V6 Engine in a CJ-3B. If you own an old Willys Jeep you know that the four cylinder motor does not provide enough power to meet the demands of rigorous off-roading. Jeep realized this also and offered a Buick designed V6 option from 1966 through 1970 in the CJ-5. The "Dauntless" 225 V6 boasted 160 horsepower as opposed to the stock 134's 75 horsepower. With more than twice the horsepower, the V6 only weighs ten pounds more than the 134. If you own a 1953-1964 era CJ-3B, this option was not available and you're stuck with the anemic F-head 134. Fortunately, it is possible to swap the stock motor for the V6. Domain: http://www.film.queensu.ca Rating: (0/5)

Cleaning Your Throttle Body
The 4.0 Jeep engines seem to run forever without any kind of maintenance besides the regular oil and filter service. But there are some things that need to be done regularly, one of them is the cleaning of your throttle body. If you ever have your engine idle high, or even race as high as two or three thousand rpm's you probably need to service your throttle body. Domain: http://www.off-road.com Rating: (0/5)
