Dipstick Repair
This is a low buck repair trick you can use for when you break the dipstick off in the block, for any engine, but I just happen to have used this on a friends 401.
You will need some 3/8 hard brake line. And make sure you get it a little longer than what you will need. Then you will need a brass couple (Female/Female), that the brake line ends will screw into. Finally, you need a flaring kit and tubing cutter. Domain: http://www.jeepgod.net Rating: (0/5)

DIY Oil Catch Can for Jeep 4.0L Engine
When combustion occurs, small amounts of combustion gases leak past the piston rings (blow-by) and down into the sump. These gases accumulate inside the crankcase and unless they are scavenged, the pressure inside the crankcase increases causing oil seals (especially the crankshaft rear main seal) and gaskets to leak. Vapours of unburnt fuel from the combustion process also accumulate and unless these are removed, they contaminate the engine oil and cause it to break down.
The oil/air mist is sucked out from underneath the valve cover by the vacuum in the intake manifold. It passes through a pipe that communicates between the grommet at the rear of the valve cover and the manifold, where it is directed into the cylinders and burnt. Filtered, fresh air is drawn into the crankcase from the airbox through a pipe that joins onto the grommet at the front of the valve cover.

Eaton Supercharger
Supercharging a Jeep. Yeah I know, "Why?" you ask. Well, I'm not really sure. I saw it for sale on Ebay and just decided that I wanted to try it. I thought it would be a cool new mod to try out and the added power would be nice. Now I didn't buy it expecting to crawl over rocks with more power or be able to do wheelies. Off road my Jeep was fine, on road it was pretty sad. Now I know that I can re-gear and get that power back but that would involve a lot more than just gears. I would only want to re-gear once and that would be to go to 4:56's which are two high for the 32" tires I have now and then I would need new tires. More lift to accommodate the bigger tires, SYE would be next and I want to get ARB's but want to also upgrade my axles. So the supercharger seemed to be an easier solution to gain that extra power back. This stilled turned out to be much more involved than I thought it ever would be. Electronic Engine Contol Sensors
This section deals with the control sensors affiliated with the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Various switch and sensor failures were commonly responsible for some drivability problems with the 1989 - 1995 Taurus SHO's, however these problems have yet to repeat themselves with the Third Generation car's. Engine Detonation
The term "pinging" is in reference to the sound made when early detonation (pre-detonation) of fuel is occurring in the cylinder. Pre-detonation is a condition that is typically caused by a very hot cylinder, a low octane levels in the fuel, or a poor fuel flow rate (resulting in a lean fuel/air mixture). Under these conditions, the fuel ignites due to compression by the piston rather then by the firing of the spark plug. Once the fuel ignites, this detonation wants to force the piston back down while the piston rod is still trying to push it up. The resulting "ping" is the sound of the piston rattling in the cylinder. If ignored, the piston top or rings will give way to the excessive forces of the detonation and the result will be catastrophic (and expensive)! Domain: http://www.sierrajeep.com Rating: (0/5)

Engine Rebuild
Sooner or later, every CJ owner will need to ponder the fate of their engine. That time came for me not too long ago. I had been very pleased with my straight six engine when it came to its power and low-end torque. Also, since having converted the fuel intake over to the Mopar Multi-Port Injection system, I was rather committed to staying with the inline six engine when it became time. Fixing 4.0L Blow By
Finding oil in your Jeep's air filter? I think everybody that owns a 4.0L Jeep engine has had this problem or is going to have this happen to them sooner or later. No you don't need to rebuild your engine and yes it is blow-by from the piston rings but its just normal blow-by that's out of control. Domain: http://www.off-road.com Rating: (0/5)

Flush your Jeep's Radiator
This write-up is meant to assist you in changing your Jeep's antifreeze. While you're at it, you can also flush the radiator. Fuel Injector O-Ring Replacement
Have you smelled fuel vapors coming through the heater vent on cold mornings? Maybe just caught a whiff of gasoline vapor when you open the hood? It is always a cause for concern and sometimes difficult to find the source since fuel quickly evaporates. I experienced this phenomenon on my 1988 Cherokee at 100K miles and again at 165K miles. In each case, I found the culprit to be one or more leaky fuel injector o-rings. Domain: http://www.off-road.com Rating: (0/5)
