Oil Change
Engine oil is the life's blood of your Jeep, and keeping it changed with fresh oil every 3,000 miles is critical to engine longevity. This write up is a rough guideline for changing the oil and oil filter in a 2003 Jeep Rubicon with the 4.0 inline 6 cylinder engine. Most of the information will apply to any Jeep, but consult your owners manual for specific recommendations such as which oil to use and how much. Domain: http://7slotgrille.com Rating: (5/5)

Pinto Turbo in a CJ-3B
Once the F-head in my '53 3B blew, I knew that it was time to modify the old girl. Of course I wanted more power, I just didn't have the money to do a V8 conversion. What with all of the drivetrain upgrades that would be needed, I'd have to completely rebuild the Jeep from the ground up. This write up describes the steps taken to install a Ford 2.0L Pinto motor and turbocharger. Domain: http://www.film.queensu.ca Rating: (0/5)

Pre '92 XJ Radiator Conversion
Older Cherokee's with 4.0 liter engines ('87-'91) have the factory closed radiator system that can be less then useful or easy to maintain. It's often a hassle to fill the radiator and the plastic pressure bottle constantly develops leaks. I decided when my radiator sprung a leak that it was time to convert to an open radiator system like the '92+ Cherokees have (radiator with a cap, no pressure bottle). This was virtually a drop in swap and this article will explain the in's and out's of doing the conversion. Domain: http://www.off-road.com Rating: (0/5)

Radiator Replacement
This write up will show you the basic steps of the replacement of a radiator in a 95 YJ with the six cylinder engine. The process is very simple and probably the most time consuming part is draining and refilling the anitfreeze. This would also be a very good time to replace the upper and lower radiator hoses if they need to be replaced... Domain: http://jeephorizons.com Rating: (0/5)

Remote Throttle
Once I installed my winch, I realized that if I wanted to have extra convenience, I would need to install something that would allow me to raise the idle speed to charge the battery during and after winching. By raising the engine speed to somewhere around 2000 r.p.m., the alternator will charge the battery if it needs it, and also generate power during winching operations to reduce the load on the battery.
While it might be possible to accomplish this by simply holding one's foot on the gas pedal, it is not very convenient and in some instances might not be possible. So before I found myself in a position to need such a feature, I went ahead and tackled the problem. The most common solution that I have found to this problem is the installation of a bike shifter and cable that is mounted to the stick-shift lever and attached to the throttle body. It is a nice solution and is popular for obvious reasons. The parts are easy to locate, cheap to buy, and easy to install. Domain: http://4x4icon.com Rating: (0/5)

Replace a 4.0L Rear Main Seal
Unfortunately, a leaky rear main seal is pretty common on the 4.0L motor found in most Jeeps. Getting it fixed at the dealership usually runs in the neighborhood of $500, however, if you've got a free afternoon, you can fix it yourself for under $50. But be prepared, as my uncle so aptly put it, this is definitely "one of the oiliest jobs possible on a Jeep." New rear main seals are usually in stock at most auto parts stores, and seem to range from $13 to $15. Domain: http://jeepin.com Rating: (0/5)

Stroker options for the 4.0L I6
There's no replacement for displacement so if you want even more torque, you need a bigger engine.
The 4.0L engine has a 3.411" stroke, 3.875" bore, 6 cylinders, and a displacement of 241.5ci (3956cc).
You can increase the displacement of your 4.0L engine by installing a stroker kit. Domain: http://www.jeep4.0performance.4mg.com Rating: (0/5)
