Removing the red and blue stripes on black wheels
I did what a lot of Jeep owners do. I purchased some black steelies because one they are cheap and two who cares if we dent them because they are cheep. After a few weeks I decided I really didn't like the red and blue stripe that was painted on the outer edge of the rim, but hey thats the breaks so I'll live with it.
An odd thing happend. I was watching my wife remove finger nail polish from her nails using finger nail polish remover. Ive heard a few times from others that it works on removing the red/blue stripe so I sneaked the bottle outside while she wasn't looking. I spent an hour outside and snuck the bottle back inside. I only attempted to remove the stripes from one wheel not knowing exactly what it does to the finish and that was last year. Afer a year passed and a few wheeling trips Ive come to the conclusion that the finger nail polish doesn't hurt the paint below the red and blue stripes.
Staun Tyre Deflators
Everybody always says in order to gain traction while 4wheeling you should lower your air pressure for a wider foot print. Obviously you can simply push in your valve stem and down goes the air pressure. There has be a better way of doing this.
I decided to give a set of Staun Tyre Deflators a try. Yes Tire is spelled wrong. They are an austrilan company. I contacted FatBoysOffroad.com and had them shipped to me within days. From what I can tell you simply screw them on and they lower down to a preset air pressure. Ah HUH sure they do. I bet they are a pain in the butt to set and use.

Steves Jeep Fab Rear Bumper Installation
Everybody who installs a lift and larger tires considers the samething. What do I do with my spare tire? You have a few options.
1) Forsake your spare tire and leave it at home, but of course if you need it on the run your in trouble.
2) You install your spare tire on your stock tail gate and take the chance of the weight stressing your stock hinges.
3) You install a new tire carrier in the forum of a swing out carrier and a new bumper.
Ok, now we have decided to choose option 3. Incase you haven't checked on the net or in your favorite magazine there are nearly dozens of compaines, designs and needless to say options.
I decided to give Steve from StevesJeepFab.com a call. he had a few options and ideas for me to choose from. I choose a carrier with a Hi-Lift option and a detachable set of gerry cans.
The following table can be used as an initial basis for airing down your tires. Rim width, tire construction, and weight distribution may necessitate the need for adjustments. The pressures (psi) in this table are applicable for most forms of four-wheeling (up to 20 mph).
Align your jeep the cheap way
Installing a lift will screw up the toe-in, caster and steering wheel centering. You can adjust these fairly close to spec yourself. Here's how to make these adjustments yourself.
Basic Front End Alignment
After installing a lift on your Jeep, it is important to have your front end aligned before you drive anywhere. Failure to do so will result in severe tire wear and/or death wobble. Although not perfect, these are a few things you can do yourself to set your toe-in and re-center your steering wheel.
Basic Wheel Facts
Do you need answers to all your wheel questions such as what is off-set and back spacing? How is rim width and diameter measured? How are wheel bolt patterns measured?

CJ Front End Aliignment
The front end alignment is not too complicated. Camber, caster and toe-in are the three items that make up the alignment of the front end. Camber, where the top of the wheels lean outwards, is built into the steering knuckles with no adjustment possible. If you look at your Jeep from some distance in front, the camber is apparent. Caster likewise is built into the knuckles, but can be adjusted with tapered shims between the leaf springs and the perches on the axle. Adjustment of the caster is best left to professionals with the proper measuring equipment and know-how. The only item normally requiring attention is the toe-in adjustment, which is well within the capabilities of the average mechanic.

Cragar 352's
The Cragars were a instant choice when looking for a rim that was a classic black and had a touch or show, being the bead lock. Although the bead lock is not a true bead lock, it's one of the few times when something is purchased because of look and style rather than practicality. These are Cragar 352's, 15X8 5X4.5 with 3.75 back spacing.
DIY Tire Siping
Back near the dawn of the automotive era, a boater by the name of John Sipe was looking for a way to make his deck shoes more slip-resistant on wet boat decks. He came across the idea of cutting parallel slits in the rubber soles. He tried it and it worked! One thing led to another and the use of "Siping" for automobile tires soon caught on.
Siping is a process that involves no removal of rubber, just the creation of slits into the tread blocks. It is very common in all-season and M+S automobile tires, but not too common in off-road "Mud Terrain" type tires, which feature large, monolithic tread blocks. However, there are benefits to be gained from siping these kind of tires.
Finding the Best Street Air Pressure
To find the perfect pressure for your tires, don't believe what the manual says. Rip that page out. You may have altered the weight of your beloved jeep, gone for bigger tires, or even changed the type/brand of tire from what the boys at the factory had in mind. Besides, we've learned a lot about rubber since Barney wrote the manual.
