INVERTERS
Converter? Inverter? Confused? A CONverter is standard equipment on most RVs. Connected to commercial power or an auxiliary generator, it changes 120 Volt AC power to 12 Volt DC. Some of this is fed direct to RV circuits and some is fed to the batteries through a battery charger. An INverter does the inverse. It takes 12VDC from the batteries and changes it to 120VAC so standard electric items may be operated without "plugging in" or running a generator.

Jeep CJ Gauge & Sender Diagnostics
How to diagnose gauge problems. This article only covers gauges and sending units used in the AMC Jeep CJs built from '72-'86, but some of this information will be useful for owners of other Jeeps. There are some slight variations with the Jeeps built from '72-'75, but starting in '76 things remain pretty consistent for 10 years. Domain: http://www.monsterslayer.com Rating: (0/5)

Jeep Electrical Ground
When it comes to Jeeps, the question is not if, but when the vehicle will have an electrical problem. Jeeps and Grounds, the never-ending story. Most electrical problems with Jeeps can be traced to a loose, missing or corroded ground wire/connection. Jeep, it seems, for whatever reason, was kind of lost when it came to the issue of grounding the vehicle.

Jeep Tech: Batteries/Wiring
Four types of Lead-Acid batteries concern us for vehicular purposes, automotive starting, low antimony deep-cycle, high antimony deep-cycle, and gel-cells. I'll go over characteristics of each. Generally, the storage capacity (ampere-hour rating) of a battery is a function of the surface area of the plates exposed to the chemicals.

Mobi-Arc On-Board Welder
My intentions with my CJ-7 are to build a self-sufficient trail vehicle that has the means for repair no matter where I am. For that purpose, I carry a variety of tools with me when I leave the pavement and head for the trail. None of those tools will help me get home if I break a spring perch, motor mount, leaf spring, or my frame. Enter the Mobi-Arc. Like a spare tire, the Mobi-Arc is the tool that will get me home when the inevitable trail breakage happens. Domain: http://myweb.cableone.net Rating: (5/5)

Quick Connect Jumper Cables
To start off, I already have the Warn Quick Connect Plug setup that came with my winch. It's just a set of cables that connect to the battery with a quick connect plug on the end. If you don't have one of these they can be easily made. More on that later. There, all done. Here are some links regarding quick connect cables. I paid about $30 total for mine (Jumper Cable end ONLY). If you had to fab up the battery end I would guess it would run you another $20 or so. Still way cheaper than the Warn ($109.95) or Painless ($220) systems. The Painless system comes with PARTS ONLY. So you have to pay about $220 AND put it together yourself. Or you can spend about $50 and do it my way. Domain: http://jeephorizons.com Rating: (0/5)

Rubicon Independant Locker Control
Independent control of the Front and Rear Lockers is accomplished by adding 2 Single Pole, Single Throw (SPST) switches, some jumper wires, and connectors to the existing Axle Lock Switch and/or wiring located in the center console. As with most electrical installations, the first thing that should be done is to disconnect the battery’s negative terminal connection from the battery.
Inside the TJ’s cockpit, gently pull back and up on the defroster ventilation panel located between the windshield and dash. It should easily unsnap without much effort. Domain: http://7slotgrille.com Rating: (0/5)

Sensible Wiring
All of us are concerned about wiring our car properly. So much in fact, that I’ll bet most of you engineer to overkill. What are the issues you need to be concerned about?
1. Use the smallest reasonable sized wire for the required current.
Wire is expensive and the larger you go, the more expensive it is.
Wire is heavy and the larger you go, the heavier it gets.
Mechanically, smaller wire is easier to route, easier to protect, easier to fit connectors on and therefore, more reliable mechanically (There are limits - see below).

TJ ECU Reset
The Jeep’s PCM performs several functions controlling Air Fuel ratios via Injector Bandwidth and Ignition Timing. These “outputs” are controlled using the “inputs” received from all the sensors and then comparing these reading against a set of data tables burned into the PCM. The “memory tables” are the brains that keep the engine running at low emissions and peak economy across the RPM band during closed loop mode. These memory tables can and do change. They are “adaptive”, based on sensor readings, driving habits, engine performance and sensor tolerances. Over time, the PCM Memory Tables become tuned to your engine. After performing this procedure the PCM will re-learn and store into Adaptive Memory your engines performance characteristics. Domain: http://www.mhjcontherocks.com Rating: (4/5)

TJ Instrument Panel
On day, as I sat in my office doing electrical engineering geek kind of things with my UNIX workstation, I saw a post on the Arizona Virtual Jeep Club which intrigued me. The post proclaimed that the first TJ owner who responded to the post and was willing to donate their TJ as a test bench would receive a nice new set of white instrument overlays for free... Neat, I thought as I quickly tapped out a response, I like antique white gauges so these overlays might be nice and they certainly were the right price: Free! Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), someone else responded to the post before I could and then ended up receiving the white overlays. Drats! Well... let'&s wait and see how they look and perhaps I'&ll buy a set of those white overlays.... fast forward a week or two and I visit a website of a friend of mine who happened to get the free install, and I reviewed the install... and the gauge overlays. All of a sudden... after looking at the overlays, I Domain: http://www.flatfendertj.com Rating: (2/5)
