Ford 8.8 Conversion
The Ford 8.8 conversion for my TJ was a good choice. This is a great swap because the 8.8 is about the same width and is the same bolt pattern as the Dana 35c. I already had a D35c with and ARB and 3.73 gears. I wanted to be able to go to 35" tires with out breaking any axles and I knew I was limited with my D35c at the 33" tires I was running. Front axle Home made disconnect
Eliminate the vacuum engaging each and every time you hit 4wd, this way before you enter the trail you can connect the front axle (way the newer front axles are) and then have a very fast and smooth 4wd shift.Get large amounts of torque while in 2wd Tight turns you can disconnect the front axle while keeping it in low range to make a tight turn, as opposed to having to stop, shift back to 2hi, make the turn, stop, then shift back to 4lo. You have a welded front diff you can unlock it on the road and on turns while in 4wd. Domain: http://home.earthlink.net Rating: (0/5)

Front Axle Swap - Reverse Cut Dana 44
I have been slowly building up my Jeep Wrangler YJ into a very capable rock crawling machine. Since I was planning to put on tires larger than the 33"& tires I was currently running, I thought it was time to upgrade the front axle to a Dana 44. Domain: http://www.4x4wire.com Rating: (0/5)

Gear Ratio Guide for Larger Tires
When ever you change tire size from the original size to another there will be a direct effect on power and drivability. We have developed this chart to help you select the optimum gear ratio to put your performance back where you want it.
Using the chart below, first determine your original gear ratio and tire size and follow to the intersection that should be your approximate RPM at 65 MPH. Next find your new tire size and follow that across to the closest RPM to your original and that will be first choice. Domain: http://www.4wheelparts.com Rating: (0/5)

Grand Wagoneer Manual Hub Conversion
Most Grand Wagoneers and some other full size Jeeps came with a drive flange instead of a hub. Instead of having an auto or manual hub, there is just a ring inside the hub which locks the hub permanently, similar to a full-time four wheel drive. I don't like this set up, since like a full time unit, the axles, U-Joints, and front driveshaft are always spinning. This reduces fuel mileage slightly, and also wears the front end parts very quickly. Without a steady load on the parts, like the rear, the front U-Joints tend to chatter around while they are turning, resulting in high wear. I converted my GW to manual hubs to eliminate these problems. Domain: http://www.geocities.com Rating: (0/5)
