Winch Teardown and Rebuild
While using my winch on the Back Beacon ride, I noticed it struggling under moderate load and making disturbing noises. I contacted Warn and found out that it wouldn't be covered under warrantee because I didn't have my receipt.

Wire vs. Synthetic Rope
Safe use of wire rope requires placing blankets/coats/floor mats on a cable under tension to absorb energy in case it breaks. Since Amsteel doesn't store significant energy it is much safer and these precautions need not be taken.
