Homemade Shackle Reversal
ince I was starting with just a bare frame, I figured I would do this right, and do the things I had always wanted too, but didn't.
For this shackle reversal I purchased some steel, from a local metal shop, they will sell you their scraps dirt cheap, or their stock steel for usually book price, and they also will usually order it for you if they are not carrying it.
First off, I obtained about 3 feet of some 3" x 3/8" flat steel (This will be used for the underside of the frame), one foot of some 3" square tube (Front solid spring perch), 48" of 1/2" angle iron (3"x 6") (For the front bumper), and some 50" of 2" x 3/8" bar steel (Used for the shackles themselves). You will also need some shackle hangers to weld onto the top of the frame. I used some rear CJ hangers, but you can use the ones off the YJ frame if you are careful grinding them off, I was but someone threw one away on me.

Increased Ground Clearance
Main drawback for a Discovery in the rough stuff, is the general ground clearance. The standard fitment wheels (29") are rather small, compared to a Defender or a series vehicle (32"). Bigger wheels translate directly into improved ground clearance - also giving better angles. The tow hitch and the small wheels will let the Discovery behind, when the Defenders keeps going. But as any thing Land Rover - rectifying this lag-behind is all in the range of some tools and a wallet!!!

Install JKS BPE on OME Shocks
Despite being told it couldn't be done, this write-up describes installing JKS Bar Pin Eliminators (BPE) on OME shocks. BPE's prevent the clunking noise that is common with many shocks.

Installing a Trackbar Relocation Bracket
With a 3.5" suspension lift and a 1" body lift there was some definite binding of the suspension at full extension was evident. This made for a rough ride and a noticable loss of flex on the trail. In order to correct this I decided it was necessary to install a rear track bar relocation bracket in order to realign the rear axle under the Jeep.

JKS Swaybar Quick Disconnects
Disconnecting your swaybar is a great way to increase the amount of axle articulation you have on your Jeep (vertical wheel travel). This helps you to keep all four of your tires on the ground in very rough and uneven terrain. In my humble opinion, JKS makes one of the highest quality and easiest to use quick disconnects around. JKS Telescoping Track Bar
A trackbar (or track bar) is a big round piece of metal that keeps your axle in line with the frame for improved handling. If you have a YJ Wrangler, you have one on the front and on the back of your Jeep. I have heard many YJ owners recommend removing the back and the front swaybars for improved offroad articulation and I have no doubt doing so would tremendously help my vehicle articulate but I have safety concerns and I'&m not willing to risk it. Remember, our Raptor project is designed to still be a daily driver.

One day while 4 wheeling (incidentally we were on our way to a trail cleanup event) we heard a "&thunk"& somewhere on the front end and crawling under Raptor revealed the bolt on the left of the front trackbar was missing. This is odd because I think that bolt is grade 5 (so it shouldn'&t have broken) and I'&m sure the nut was torqued onto the bolt very tightly. I tried to buy a new bolt but I didn'&t know the size or length so I first stopped by a Jeep dealership to order one.

Lift - law guide
With all the publicity about rollovers involving lifted vehicles, a lot of legal question have arisen about what suspension modifications are allowed and what'&s permitted in other states. THIS LIST IS CURRENT TO THE BEST OF OUR KNOWLEDGE. (Some states, such as New Jersey, have legislation pending.) Most state's AAA Auto Club offices can assist with lift-law questions, as can the DMV. Most larger libraries have copies of the Vehicle Code. We recommend you contact your local DMV for the final answer.

Nth Degree Mobility Shock Shifters
So, why would anyone want to hack off their Jeep TJ's factory axle shock mounts, have a new set welded on, install new upper cross member mounts and pay about $100 to do it plus whatever it cost for welding if you don't have the means to do it yourself? Well, in my case I tore off my passenger side shock mount right off my Jeep's axle and saw this as an opportunity to fix my break and upgrade to something better all at the same time. Why are they better than the factory mounts and why would you want them on your Jeep? Well for one, the Nth Degree Mobility Shock Shifters relocate your axle mounts and shifts them outboard by 5" providing more clearance under the rear axle. Also, the new mounting location effectively solves the problem of your shock cans making contact with the lower spring perch caused by a lift and/or by a raised-pinion (rotated rear axle). Last but not least, the new mounting location improves your shock clearance next to the exhaust and prolongs the life of your shock

Off Road Only U-Turn Steering
When you're ready to upgrade your Jeep TJ's steering system to something a lot more heavy duty, look no further than to Off Road Only. The new Off Road Only or (ORO for short) U-Turn Steering System comes with a 1.25" diameter drag link and a 1.375" diameter tie rod, both of which are made of 4130 chromoly. The U-Turn steering system also comes with custom hubs that bolts directly onto your original steering knuckles. Also, the new passenger side hub has a drag link connection that provides a full turning radius that matches your steering box lock to lock. Other benefits include an improved steering feel (no more "Dead Spot"), minimallized "bump steer" and a crossover steering design that eliminates changes to the toe-in alignment caused by suspension changes on your Jeep.
