Shackle Reversal on a CJ2A
There have been many articles written in 4WD magazines on suspension lifts. However I could not find anything on reversing the shackles. I decided early in the project I would document the project and build a web page on my experience. I hope this provides someone else with useful information. Domain: http://mightymo.org Rating: (0/5)

Shackle Reversal Pros and Cons
Shackle reversal is one of the most misunderstood Jeep suspension modifications. Most people do not really understand the advantages and disadvantages of shackle reversal. The pros and cons of shackle reversal should be understood before you spend your hard earned money on a kit. Domain: http://www.off-road.com Rating: (0/5)

Shock Tuning Tech Basics
When fine tuning a race car with shocks, you need to understand the areas of handling that a shock affects.
What does a shock do?
Basically, racing shocks perform two functions:

Shocks, solving the mystery.
Shock Absorbors affect the handling of a race car as much as any other suspension component. However, shocks continue to be one of the least understood and most overlooked aspects of chassis tuning. Domain: http://www.rpmnet.com Rating: (0/5)

Spring Over Axle Conversion
My spring over axle conversion was quite simple, due to the fact that I did not cut down my axles, meaning I left them full size. The rear axle that I am using is a Dana 60-2 Semi-Floater 5 on 5 1/2 lug, it is out of a 1973 Jeep J-10 1/2 ton truck with the Heavy Duty option. For the front I am using a 1978 Jeep Wagoneer Dana 44. I chose to go with this D44 instead of the 1973 front D44 that I got out of that same J-10, because the 73 was a closed knuckle, drum brakes, and had axle shafts the size of a D30. YUCK! So the 78 won out due to disk brakes and bigger shafts, but it was 6 lug. Domain: http://www.jeepgod.net Rating: (0/5)

Spring Over Axle for Wrangler YJ
A spring over axle swap is a great way to get a lot of lift and get great articulation. The lift from a spring over axle swap comes from not changin springs, but by changing the way the axles mount on the springs. The CJs and Wrangler YJs have the axles mounted on top of the springs (spring under). If the axles are modified so they mount on the bottom of the springs (spring over), there will be at least 5"& of lift. Domain: http://www.off-road.com Rating: (5/5)

Spring Over Axle on a CJ
The sage Jeeping guru Jefe once said "&Eventually, every serious rock crawler will go spring over."& The virtues and faults of SOA have been debated many times, but eventually all discussions come to the conclusion that going SOA is the only way to free up the very significant space under the axle tubes where the spring packs normally reside. Spring-Over-Axle Conversion
Once you start wheeling in a stock vehicle, it doesn'&t take long before you start wanting more ground clearance. There are a number of ways to do this on a leaf-sprung vehicle like a YJ, including body lifts, shackle lifts, spring lifts, and coil conversions such as Warn's. However, for the best combination of ride quality, ground clearance, and cost, the only option is a spring-over-axle (SOA) conversion. Domain: http://www.jedi.com Rating: (0/5)

Steer Stop Adjustment
If you're still riding on stock wheels and just got a set of new 31x10.50 tires or bigger, then you're probably experiencing some pretty good (or bad) rubbing on your lower control arms at a full turn now... am I right? Well you must be if you are reading this. The reason for the rub is that stock wheels have 5.5" of backspacing and you just put on a set of tires that in most cases are one whole inch wider (technically .5" on either side but you get the point) than before. So, how do you fix this annoying rubbing? 1. Modify the way you drive. 2. Buy new wheels with less backspacing (4.5" or less)
or 3. Adjust your steer stops. I think you'll agree with me that this is by far the cheapest and easiest solution. Domain: http://www.4x4xplor.com Rating: (0/5)

Steering Stabilizer
After installing a tall lift and bigger tires, it'&s a good idea to upgrade your factory steering stabilizer with something a little more heavy duty. It'&s not completely necessary to do so but it'&s cheap and it will help smooth out bad some road manners caused by fat tires and provide more control in the event of a blowout. Most any aftermarket stabilizer will work great and I have no brand preference here. I went ahead and purchased a Rancho because it was cheap. Domain: http://www.4x4xplor.com Rating: (0/5)
