Snorkle Install in a YJ
I had been toying with the idea of installing a snorkel since I put in a Ford 5.0l HO motor in my YJ back in '99 with a "less than protected" air intake set up, however, I just never got around to doing anything about it. In reality, I've not had too many occasions to think twice about taking "the plunge", but the seed was always there, that little "what if" voice that never seems to go away. The $80 Paint Job
For a paint job that cost under $80.00 what do you expect?
This ain’t no show car paint job. And, if you account for the double negative in that statement, this IS a show car paint job! However, you are not apt to drive to this “show” in your Lincoln, Lexus or Lamborghini. You might catch this Jeep at the local mall, but you are more likely to see it at Tellico, Windrock or Uwharrie.

TJ Flares on a CJ
Installing TJ flares on all four corners of my '82 CJ-7 allows me to run 35x14.5 Swamper SSR's with only a 4" suspension lift and 1" body lift. The TJ fender flares provide more clearance allowing me to run larger tires without damaging the body. Aftermarket TJ fender flares come in various widths so there is plenty of fender covering the tires. The TJ fender flare also utilizes an integrated marker light that keeps my Jeep street legal even though I trimmed the fenders. Domain: http://www.off-road.com Rating: (0/5)

TJ flares on a YJ
As anyone who has ever owned a YJ or CJ and tried to install larger tires knows, there isnt a lot of room under the fenders. Some trail rigs have simply had the flares removed all together. That isnt an option for me as this in my Daily Driver and state inspection laws prohibit me from removing my Fender Flares. So, the next option is to find a way to add more clearance and still keep the flares. Thats where the TJ flares come in. Domain: http://www.undrground.org Rating: (0/5)

TJ Flares onto a YJ
The more I had seen great looking YJs with TJ fender flares in magazines and on various websites, the more I wanted to do it to my own '&93 YJ. I decided to go ahead with the project for a number of reasons. In addition to the updated look, the swap increases tire clearance in the wheel wells and the cutting of the front and rear fenders allows for a little more flex without rubbing. Additionally, this modifications would keep the police off my case for tires that stick out too far. In Vancouver, some of the police can be somewhat over-zealous in giving out vehicle inspection notices. The most obvious infraction is having wide tires that stick out past the fenders. By using TJ flares, I was able to cover-up just about all of my 35"& BFGs, even after my axle swap. This alone made the swap worthwhile.<&p>&Since I have a Sahara, my stock flares were painted to match my body right out of the factory. I wanted to keep this '&Sahara'& look when I did the swap so I decided to paint the flares when Domain: http://www.bc4x4.com Rating: (0/5)

TJ gas tank up 8-inches
There are a few skid plates for the TJ on the market that do a good job of protecting the gas tank. The reason is simple - the TJ tank is vulnerable{semicolon} mostly because it'&s not protected by leaf springs on either side.
I used the Tomken plate for a few years, but finally hammered to the point of no return - I couldn'&t reinstall it after prying it off for a project. I talked to Brad Kilby about his skid, but decided to eliminate the problem, not just make it better. Brad makes a great skid (it'&s the one I recommend), but it only gains an inch of clearance over the stock setup. I was looking for more.
People have been trying to move the TJ tank up for a while, but get stopped by a frame crossmember right in front and on top of the tank. It serves a few purposes besides strengthening the frame - it holds the tank front support, it holds the rear shocks and it holds two body mounts. To move the tank up more than an inch, this crossmember has to go Domain: http://www.jeepshots.com Rating: (0/5)

YJ Body Tub & Fender Swap
The original intention was to install a fiberglass body tub. However, my funds would not allow me to do this and still be able to pay for the work that was done at Chicagoland 4WD Center. So I did the next best thing and picked up a used '87 Wrangler tub. This is one of those modifications that several of the magazine technical writers will tell you can't be done...DON'T YOU BELIEVE IT! I went into a bit more detail on mine than is really necessary, but I wanted mine to be absolutely 100% dead-on. Why do this, you may ask? It's less expensive than fiberglass, better quality than the Steel Horse/Acme replacement steel bodies as well as less expensive than them, and the YJ tubs are galvanized. Zipper Maintenance
Plastic zippers are less likely to break, than metal zippers.
Plastic zippers are easier to zip up and require less maintenance.
Coil zips are stronger than solid plastic tooth zips.
Larger zips are not necessary stronger.
Dirt in a coil zipper or zipper slider will quickly damage it, keeping a zipper clean will extend its life.
