Description: Your tires are your link to the earth they are very important and expensive, dont be too quick to buy a tire based soley on price or size or appearance. Most tires have a specific market they appeal to it may be mud, snow, rock, sand or yes even street (remeber those Goodyear Wrangler GSAs you probably had). You must carefully weight your desision based on your intended usage, and the Jeep you will be putting them on. A set of sticky tires may well be the best performance mod you can do. A taller tire alone offers greater ground clearance (GC), break over angle (BOA), approach angle (OA) and departure angle (DA). Bigger is almost allways better but it may also not fit, there are more issues to fitment then phsically bolting them on. Drivetrain components cannot withstand certain tires, the same goes for your overall gearing. So here i will begin with the two basic types of tires radial and bias ply.
