Description: I scored an older Warn 8274 8000lb winch for $200 and decided to completely strip and rebuild it

A lot of people have contated me and asked what the process was that i used to clean up the winch - apparently I did a pretty good job! What Idid was as follows:

* The main aluminum housing I painstaking cleaned with a rotary wire brush in an air powered die-grinder, as well as using small wire brushes, gun cleaning bore broshes, Q-tips, brake cleaner, and compressde air for the tight spots. When I was done I sprayed it with some clear coat from a spray can
* The removable parts - drum, brake assembly, etc. I cleaned up with wire bruch and brake cleaner and then painted them with Bowman Industries industrila anti-rust coating (paint!) in "Detroit Diesel Silver"
* The motor I cleaned up as above, and pinted with flat black paint.

That's it. Really, I just took my time and enjoyed the process. Good luck!
