LED Flasher Relay Fix 2000 TJ

When I first installed my LED tail lights I knew I would have a fast flasher and I would eventually take care of it. Little did I know that after 2weeks of fast flashers people behind me where more annoyed than I was in the cab. Before and After video. Aproximately 2.8meg each file. For 2001-up check out this article.

Tools: Time:
Phillips Screwdriver
8mm socket or nut driver
Sharp Knife or razor
Approximately 15minutes

This procedure was pretty simple. Just a few minutes of fingering out where the flasher unit was and how to get to it.. Written by kizer, if you have any questions or comments about this install visit

Just below the dash there is a plastic knee panel. Of course its supposed to protect your knees. Just under the light knob and over by the key hole are the screws.

Remove the 4 screws holding the sheet metal cover.

Just behind the the dash on the right of the steering column just behind the air duct there is a nut and bracket you need to loosen.

I used a 8mm nut driver, but Im sure a socket would work.

Pull the harness along with the bracket back and remove the flasher relay.

My relay had the mounting bracket still connected to it, which is normal

Looking at the top of the relay there are little lips that you will need to pry back in with a small screw driver in order to get inside of the relay.

Along the bottom near Pin 49 there is a little flap that flips up pretty easily. Pry it up first then continue with the rest of the sides.

Pull the flasher relay out of its case.

What we are interested in is on the backside of the relay.

I few cuts and scraps in the same area to insure the trace is cut completely. You do not want it to short and work now and then and have a fast flasher half the time.

Put it all back together and re-assymble your dash and your done.
