RockCrusher Dana35 Diff Cover

Im not sure about the rest of you, but after a few wacks on my front or rear Diff cover I begin to get nervous. For me it was protecting not only my gears, but my ARB locker install.

When I dropped my Jeep off at Northride4x4 they just recieved a shipment of RockCrushers in and I was one of the first to actually hold my little Dana35 cover. Dave said here check this out its the baby of the group. I must admit seeing the Dana44 it was the runt of the litter.

Tools: Tools: Optional Time:
1/2-inch Socket Deep well
1/4-inch driver
Chisel and rubber mallet to remove the old cover 30-45 minutes

The optional tools called out above are to remove the cover and drain the fluid. Here is a good write-up on doing a Jeep Differential Fluid Change.
My intent on this write-up was to show how a few bucks can be a HUGE inprovement of stock. Of course a lot of times aftermarket parts are a big improvement over stock, but if your going to spend a fortune on lifts, tires and who knows what why not protect one of the most vulnerable parts of your Jeep?

Right out of the box I knew this thing was amazing I weighted it and it weighs 8lbs compaired to the stock Dana35 cover at 3lbs. If you have any questions or comments about this install visit

Every Jeep that comes off the line has the same type of rear cover. It either comes in a Dana 30, 35 or 44 configuration. What do they all have in common?

All covers protect things like this. Gears and hopefully some day lockers. This is the business end of an ARB locker in my rear end.

Does this evn look remotely close to the stock rear cover? Im afraid not.

From the inside they look very simular. They both hold gear lube. The RockCrusher on the left has a deeper bowl to hold more gear lube.
DSCN4054.JPG
The RockCrusher on the left is a bit taller or sticks out when bolted on. As well has a more uniform rear end to protect and slide off obsticles.

The RockCrusher on bottom is 1/4-inch thick with the stock cover measuring 1/8-inch thick.

From the top the RockCrusher looks BEEFY as all can be. Its got ribs for re-enforcement.

From the previous picture you will notice the fill hole is off by two inches on the RockCrusher allowing for more gear lube with rear pinion angles raised

Tell me this isn't what shouldn't be on the front and rear of your Jeep. It is on mine.
