My gasket is adhered to the Crank Case not to the cover so its easy to remove the cover.
I noticed I had some residual fluid in the bottom of the crank case.
I stood the compressor up so the remaining fluid can drain out
on to a rag.
Take some 10w-30 and soak the old filter. With the filter wet it will loosen up and simply peal right off the bottom of the Crank Case.
Soak the lower Crank Case gasket with 10w-30 prior to installation.
The filter really can only go on one way. As well the lower
cover can only go on one way. The reason I soaked the gasket
is to make sure it sticks as well when your lining up the lower
Crank Case cover it will have some play and slide around while
you line up the 14bolts.
After you insert all 14 bolts and hand tighten them use this Diagram and torque down each bolt to 10-16lbs.
I started with 1 and worked my way through around 8lbs then re-torqued to 14lbs.
Use a 1/2 socket and remove the drain plug on the side of the Crank Case. Look at that. Again another missing gasket. This time its a O-Ring. Make sure you do both sides.
Place the O-Ring on the nut and apply a little bit of 10w-30 to keep the O-Ring from tearing when you tighten down the 1/2 bolt. Torque down the fill plugs to 5-10lbs.
Here's the trouble maker on the side of my compressor. AUTOMOTIVE
REMANUFACTURED A/COMPRESSORS
Ok, in English that means somebody took the compressor and did a shooty job of rebuilding it before they resold it. Go figure.
Use a flat bladed screw driver and remove the two O-Rings if you have a flange type head. I do so its pretty easy to remove
Both O-Rings installed and ad light coat of 10w-30.
Install your flange fittings if you have them. I still have
the old ones and I'm going to keep them installed until I pickup
a set when the York is ready for installation.
